Luxembourg Roots

Since the early 1800s, Luxembourgers have migrated to the New World to escape the turmoil back home. Luxembourg, a small, resilient country, was often caught between Europe's great powers like France, Germany, and Belgium, threatening its national identity and straining its resources and livelihoods. Dividing inherited land among offspring led to a scarcity of available farmland. In contrast, the New World presented abundant possibilities.

The Müller Family's Profound Catholic Heritage

The essence of Catholicism intricately weaves through their life stories, evident in cherished stories, photographs, and historical documents. This devout faith played a pivotal role in establishing the foundational German Catholic communities across Iowa, California, and Seattle. Remarkably, two groups of three sisters—each a set of second cousins, embraced a life dedicated to religious service as nuns. Additionally, a family member took his spiritual calling to an international level, pursuing seminary studies in Rome.
